Ageing switch-gear and control systems waste as much energy through heat as the inefficient motors and fans connected to them. As control systems age, switch-gear becomes worn and operation becomes sluggish. Add to this component failure and the aggravation of breakdowns and you have a recipe for trouble.
At Gemtech we can supply and install modern control panels and systems to alleviate the problems associated with ageing systems. Modern controls are far more energy efficient, versatile and can be tailored to your vision or requirements. Modern variable speed drives and motors will help your pocket too. Return on investment can be relatively quick and lifetime costs reduced as motors can be run at reduced speeds to reduce wear and controls are now more solid state so less moving parts to wear out. Level controls such as ultrasonic transmitters and radar provide an accurate representation of chamber level in pumping stations and eliminate the problems associated with traditional float switch controls, a common cause of breakdowns.
On water booster systems, traditional pressure switches become sluggish and are prone to failure. Modern pressure transmitters, especially combined with variable speed drives, can provide significant energy and lifetime cost savings. Retrofitting is always possible but as always, caution must be taken when retrofitting to older systems. Some older pumps and motors are not compatible with modern variable speed drives as the motors are wound differently and have different insulation properties. Equally, some systems will run at full demand most of the time, rendering variable speed drives uneconomical to install with little return on investment. We have been called to many sites where, with the best intentions, the client has installed energy efficient controls but have been ill advised and the system is of little or no benefit.
Gemtech are also able to supply, install and repair most types of golf course or water irrigation systems. Please contact us to discuss your requirements. We can visit your site(s) and assess your systems and advise you accordingly. Equally, if you have a project in mind please get in touch and we will do our best to help find a solution.
