FAQ

FAQs

Here are answers to some common questions.

  • What are your business hours?

Our normal office hours are Mon. - Fri. 0900-1700.

All general enquiries  will be dealt with during office hours.

Should you need emergency assistance out of these hours please call 0800 1075 247 and we will be happy to help you.

  • I don't have a service contract or agreement, will you still attend even if it is out of hours?

Of course we will, please call us on 0800 1075 247 and we will despatch an engineer to you. Please be aware that our service agreement customers will take priority over you if they need us but we will advise you accordingly and get to you as quickly as we can.

  • Will you attend to a breakdown the same day as we call you?

Unless we are told to the contrary or we are aware of a reason why same day attendance is not needed, we will be with you as soon as possible, the same day even if late in the evening or during the night, christmas or new year.

  • Do I need a service contract or agreement?

The old saying is that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Faults or potential problems are spotted before they become a disaster (or really expensive, usually both). In the same way that you wouldn't drive your car without servicing it. the same applies to pumps etc.  You will get a much longer life out of your equipment if you look after it. That said, if you have a maintenance team that can look after the equipment and they just need specialist support, thats good too. In essence, as long as the equipment is being maintained effectively, then that is enough. Service agreements are like gym membership, you pay a fee for the membership and use the benefits this brings. A service agreement carries benefits such as reduced costs for calls, parts, priority attendance and repairs. Please note that in the case of treatment plants, it is a requirement for you to demonstrate upon request, and keep records, of all maintenance on the plant, including tankerage or de-sludging.

  • I was told that only the manufacturer or installer can service my pumping station, is this true?

No. there are many independent pump suppliers out there that can service your equipment to the same if not a higher standard as the manufacturer or installer. Similar to your car, you don't have to have it serviced at the dealership. In the case of warrantied installations, we recommend that you stay with the installer until the warranty runs out. It is much simpler to make a warranty claim if you have to. Once out of warranty, you are free to use a provider of your choice. If you really can't stay with the installer, then  by all means change provider, all it means is that warranty claims become a little more complicated but not impossible.

  • We manage a block of apartments, if a resident calls you, will you attend site?

We will normally only attend site ater confirmation from the bill-payer unless we are specifically informed otherwise. Should we recieve such a call (it does happen) we will contact you first and confirm attendance requirements.

  • Do you have fixed prices?

We do. Certain add -on services such as drain jetting or pumping station call-outs are fixed costs.

Other works are quoted and then once accepted, this is fixed also. Service agreements are also fixed depending on your choice of contract.

  • What areas do you cover?

We can cover the whole of the UK . Please call us for more information on 0800 1075 247.

  • My pumping station keeps breaking down, what is wrong?

There are numerous reasons for the system to breakdown, worn pump(s), faulty controls, misuse by the wrong things getting flushed away, the list goes on.  Please do call us on 0800 1075 247 and one of our team will help you find a solution.

  • I was told that my pumping station needs a tanker every service, is this right?

This very much depends on the equipment. If it is a sewage treatment plant then regular de-sludging is mandatory. Storm water pumps rarely need cleaning but sewage pumps can need regular cleaning if not set up correctly or are being subjected to the wrong things, like wet wipes, being flushed into the system. More and more often, sadly, firms are recommending tankerage simply to keep lorries busy. We have many pumping stations that have not needed  a tanker in years as they are set up correctly to deal  with the waste water and the users are educated as to the limitations of the system. For assistance please call us on 0800 1075 247 and we will do our best to help you.

  • Do I need a tanker to attend every time there is a breakdown? My contractor says it is so they can lift the pumps.

Usually no but it depends on your system. If the station is fitted with guide rails and the lifting chains are serviceable, (which should be the case if it is serviced correctly) then the pumps can be lifted and relocated using the guide rails, that is how they are designed. Pumps on hoses are more tricky. If high level couplings are fitted then no problem, disconnect them and lift the pumps out. If there are low or no couplings, a tanker will be needed. If a tanker is required and the pump is put back into service, there is no need for the effluent to be taken away incurring tipping charges, the effluent can be discharged back into the pumping station and the pump left to pump it away. we often hear this and it is usually due to drainage firms having tankers they need to keep busy or the so called engineer doesn't understand the system design.
